UPDATE: Missing Prescott Valley man found safe

UPDATE: A man with dementia, who was reported as missing and endangered, is safe after an extensive search in Prescott Valley.

David Paiva, 66, was found Saturday afternoon on Antelope Meadows Drive.

Police answered a call of a man appearing confused and were able to identify him as the subject of the search and rescue operation ongoing since earlier in the morning.

Paiva appeared to be disoriented and in need of medical attention, according to a Prescott Valley Police announcement.

Paiva was initially treated on scene by the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority then transported via Lifeline Ambulance to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center (East Campus) for additional treatment.

The PVPD extends thanks to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Jeep Posse, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue and the Arizona Department of Public Safety Air Unit for their tactical and logistical support in locating Paiva.

ORIGINAL REPORT: Police officials and search and rescue units are looking for a man named David William Paiva.

Paiva, 66, was reported missing/endangered Saturday morning, Oct. 15. He was last seen at 7970 N. Paradise Canyon Lane (Pronghorn subdivision) in Prescott Valley, on Saturday, Oct. 15, around midnight.

He’s described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, 170 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and white shoes.

Paiva suffers from dementia, heart problems, diabetes and has had a head injury in the past. He’s believed to be on foot.
