PRESCOTT - A 49-year-old man who had not been seen for a week was found dead near Willow Lake Wednesday afternoon, a Prescott Police spokesman said.
Terry Perna's car had been located near the west side of Willow Lake, Lt. Ken Morley said, and family members were concerned because he suffered from physical health problems and mental illness.
On Tuesday, crews from Prescott Fire searched the lake by boat and police were assisted in a search by the Yavapai County sheriff's Recsue-1 helicopter, but he was not found.
Perna's body was discovered at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday by a YCSO search dog team about a quarter-mile from his car, 50 yards north of Willow Lake road, near a pile of rocks, Morley said.
It's unclear how long Perna's body had been there, and there were no obvious signs of trauma, Morley said.
The county Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to try to establish the cause of death, he said.
