Phoenix family rescued after truck stuck in ditch

A Phoenix family that drove to an area off Bloody Basin Road and became stuck on New Year's Day was rescued, due in part to some smart decisions, a Yavapai County Sheriff's spokesman said.

The family left Cave Creek and, at about 6:30 p.m., called the Sheriff's Office to report that their truck, with a man, woman and two children inside, had become stranded after getting stuck in a ditch, YCSO spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said.

Remains of Missing Person Thomas Lang Believed to be Recovered

Flagstaff, AZ: Searchers believe they have located the skeletal remains of 22 year old Thomas Lang who was originally reported as an overdue hiker on December 18, 2013. His parents have spent many weekends since the formal search was suspended, hiking areas where they believe their son might be located. On Saturday, November 29, 2014 Thomas’s parents were searching for their son in the Secret Canyon area located within Yavapai County.

Missing Prescott Valley Woman Found

Thanks to the assistance of the the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team and an alert StoneRidge resident, the Prescott Valley Police Department is pleased to report that Betty J. Salters, the missing 81 year old female from StoneRidge was located at approximately 7:30 this morning. Search teams had worked through the night in attempts to locate Mrs. Salters who wandered away from her home early last night.

Man found deceased near Willow Lake

PRESCOTT - A 49-year-old man who had not been seen for a week was found dead near Willow Lake Wednesday afternoon, a Prescott Police spokesman said.
Terry Perna's car had been located near the west side of Willow Lake, Lt. Ken Morley said, and family members were concerned because he suffered from physical health problems and mental illness.
On Tuesday, crews from Prescott Fire searched the lake by boat and police were assisted in a search by the Yavapai County sheriff's Recsue-1 helicopter, but he was not found.

FINAL UPDATE - June 15, 2014 – All parties have returned safely. The coordination between YCSO, the YCSRT Back Country Unit, and DPS Ranger Crews, were pivotal to a successful resolution in this rescue operation.The man who was transported to Verde Valley Medical Center has been identified as Ken Barnum, 70, from Casa Grande. His son, and another teen not part of the family, were airlifted to safety – see photo. The Boy Scout Troop is based out of the town of Maricopa.

The Doce and Yarnell Hill Fires devastated lives, homes, and tasked the County's emergency response and recovery capabilities. From these events which occurred from June 18th to July 7th, 2013, nineteen lives were lost in the Yarnell Hill Fire response, as well as 134 structures burnt to the ground. It is in times like these we find our strength, and it is in times like these we rise to the occasion. From this event, the strength and resiliency of Yavapai County, our people, our friends, and our communities were clearly demonstrated.
